26th June 2023 is the auspicious day as it is the 96th Birthday Anniversary of His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayanta (Amborn Ambaro), the Supreme Patriarch (Sangharaja). He is the head of the order of Buddhist monks in Thailand.

His Holiness was born in Ratchaburi Province in early morning of 26th June 1927. He is the oldest among nine siblings in a merchant family. In 1940, he was given novice ordination at Sattanarathapariwattara Worawiharn Temple and moved to study Buddha’s teachings and the scriptures at Thriyati Temple. And in 1948, he was ordained as a monk at Ratchabophit Temple.

Since ordination, His Holiness was appointed to many honorable ranks and titles in the Thai monastic order due to his discipline, his fairness in management and his Dhamma intelligence. He also holds several important positions such as the Executive of Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, the Abbot of Ratchabophit Temple and the President of the Buddhist University Council. And in 2017, he was appointed by King Rama X to be the 20th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand.

With his truly virtuous honor, His Holiness is the perfect model for Buddhists in both Dhamma knowledge and practice as well as the main anchor of Buddhism in Thailand.

On this auspicious 96th Birthday Anniversary, we would like to pay our utmost respect to His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand. We wish His Holiness good health and longevity. May His Holiness always be the great pillar of Buddhism, to support unity among Buddhist monks, and render peace and happiness to all Thai Buddhists.

วันที่ 26 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2566 นี้ นับเป็นศุภมงคลสมัย เนื่องด้วยวาระฉลองพระชนมายุครบ 8 รอบ วันคล้ายวันประสูติสมเด็จพระอริยวงศาคตญาณ (อัมพร อมฺพโร) องค์สมเด็จพระสังฆราช สกลมหาสังฆปริณายก พระประมุขแห่งสังฆมณฑลสยาม

สมเด็จพระอริยวงศาคตญาณ (อัมพร อมฺพโร) ประสูติในเขตเมืองราชบุรี เมื่อยามอรุณรุ่งของวันที่ 26 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2470 โดยทรงเป็นบุตรชายคนโต จากพี่น้อง 9 คนในครอบครัวซึ่งประกอบอาชีพค้าขาย ในปี พ.ศ. 2483 พระองค์ได้บรรพชาเป็นสามเณร ณ วัดสัตตนารถปริวัตรวรวิหาร ก่อนย้ายมาศึกษาพระปริยัติธรรม ณ วัดตรีญาติ ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2491 ได้ทรงอุปสมบทเป็นพระภิกษุ ณ วัดราชบพิธสถิตมหาสีมารามราชวรวิหาร

นับแต่แรกจำพรรษาเรื่อยมา ด้วยพระจริยานุวัตร ความเที่ยงธรรมในการปกครอง และพระปฏิภาณอันปรีชาในเชิงปริยัติ พระองค์ทรงดำรงสมณศักดิ์สัญญาบัตรหลายชั้น ประกอบด้วย พระราชาคณะชั้นสามัญเปรียญ, พระราชาคณะชั้นราช, พระราชาคณะชั้นเทพ, พระราชาคณะชั้นธรรม, พระราชาคณะชั้นเจ้ารองคณะ และที่สมเด็จพระราชาคณะ (สมเด็จพระมหามุนีวงศ์) ตามลำดับ ทั้งทรงดำรงตำแหน่งสำคัญในการกำกับดูแลพระพุทธศาสนา อาทิ กรรมการมหาเถรสมาคม, เจ้าคณะใหญ่คณะธรรมยุต, เจ้าอาวาสวัดราชบพิธสถิตมหาสีมารามราชวรวิหาร และนายกสภามหาวิทยาลัยมหามกุฏราชวิทยาลัย โดยได้รับพระราชทานสถาปนาขึ้นที่สมเด็จพระสังฆราชเจ้า พระองค์ที่ 20 แห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ ในปี พ.ศ. 2560

ด้วยพระเกียรติยศ พระเกียรติคุณเป็นที่ประจักษ์นี้ จึงกล่าวได้ว่า ทรงเป็นแบบอย่างแห่งความพิสุทธิ์พร้อมของบวรพระพุทธศาสนา ทั้งในทางพระปริยัติ ปฏิบัติ และทรงเป็นหลักชัยแห่งพุทธจักรไทยโดยแท้จริง

โอกาสนี้ ปวงเกล้ากระหม่อมขอน้อมกราบถวายพระพรชัยมงคลต่อฝ่าพระบาท ขอทรงเจริญพระชนมายุยิ่งยืนนาน สถิตเป็นฉัตรธรรมค้ำจุนพระศาสนา หนุนนำหมู่พระเถรานุเถระให้สมานสามัคคี ประทานความสงบสวัสดีแก่เหล่าพุทธศาสนิกชนทุกหมู่เหล่า ตราบจิรัฏฐิติกาลเทอญ
ควรมิควรแล้วแต่จะโปรด เกล้ากระหม่อมเพจ โนอิ้ง บุดด้า เพื่อการปกป้องพระพุทธศาสนา
